Quick answers
Who can play?
Anyone! Men's, women's and mixed pairs all play together. Your League Index decides your division, not your gender.
How do I find a partner?
Pick your partner when you register, or add them later. You are an official pair once you have both paid and chosen each other.
How long are the matches?
Pool matches are eight games in a 25-minute slot, and a 4–4 draw is fine. Semifinals and finals are first to five games.
What if I am running late?
Be at the court when your slot starts. Five minutes late costs you a game, and ten minutes means a default.
What do I win besides cash?
TPT ranking points, counted over a rolling 52 weeks, plus a goodie bag for every player.
When do I need to enter?
Enter and pay by 18:00 on Monday 9 November, or sooner if your division fills up. The draw is published by 12:00 on Friday 13 November.

Format+
The TPT Launch Open has three Open Doubles divisions: TPT 250, TPT 400 and TPT Masters. Each division has 10 pairs, split into two pools of five.
Pool play: every pair plays the other four pairs in its pool once. Pool matches are eight games in total in a 25-minute slot, and a 4–4 result is a draw.
Knockouts: the top two pairs in each pool qualify. Semifinal 1 is A1 v B2 and semifinal 2 is B1 v A2, and the winners meet in the final. Knockout matches are first to five games in a 25-minute semifinal or 30-minute final slot, with a seven-point tie-break if the clock runs out level. There is no third-place play-off.
Your result determines the TPT Ranking Points you earn.
Divisions are League Index based, not gender based. Men's, women's and mixed pairs can enter any division where both players qualify. See the event bulletin below for the full timetable and rules.
League Index+
A fairer way to find your level.
The TPT League Index is designed to give a more balanced picture of your current playing level and help place you in the right competition.
Your League Index combines three Playtomic measures:
- Current Rating: your current Playtomic rating
- Highest Rating: the highest Playtomic rating you have reached
- Recent Form: your average Playtomic rating across your last 10 games
These three values are averaged to calculate your TPT League Index. Current Rating + Highest Rating + Last 10 Games Average ÷ 3 = League Index
Why do we use it? We want TPT competitions to be competitive, balanced and fair.
Using only a player's current rating can create situations where a player enters a lower division after their rating has dropped. By also considering their highest rating and recent form, the TPT League Index gives a broader view of the player's actual level. This helps reduce level chopping and makes it harder to deliberately manipulate a rating simply to qualify for a lower division.
Your League Index is therefore not just about where your rating sits today. It considers where you've been, where you are now, and how you've been playing recently.
League Index = a fairer picture of your playing level. Your League Index determines your competition level. Your TPT Ranking tracks your performance on the TPT Tour.
1Calculate Your Initial League Index
Highest verified rating
4.50
Current rating
3.50
Last 10 games average
3.50
Initial calculated index
3.83
(Maximum Rating + Current Rating + Last 10 Games Average) / 3
Example: (4.50 + 3.50 + 3.50) ÷ 3 = 3.83. The standard calculation needs exactly 10 valid completed games.
2Check for a Significant Rating Drop
4.50 − 3.50 = 1.00 points
If the current rating is more than 0.30 points below the highest verified rating, the profile is flagged for review.
A flag triggers a review. It is not an automatic penalty.
3Review the Rating History
Verified peak
Where the maximum is supported by actual playing performance, a historical protection floor may apply.
Protection Floor = Verified Historical Maximum − 0.30
Final Competition Index = MAX(Standard League Index, Protection Floor)
Example: floor 4.20 beats 3.83 → 4.20
Initial assessment
An unsupported initial estimate can be excluded. This is used only when an authorised administrator has excluded the initial estimate and sufficient valid game data exists.
Final Competition Index = (Current Rating + Last 10 Games Average) / 2
Example: initial estimate 5.00 excluded → 2.50
4Your Competition Index
The selected and approved index is the value used for division eligibility. One of three outcomes is recorded for every player:
Verified Peak - Apply Protection Floor
Verified peak: protection floor applied where necessary.
Initial Assessment - Exclude Maximum
Initial assessment: unsupported initial estimate excluded.
Keep Calculated League Index
Calculated index: standard calculation retained.
TPT reserves the right to review and adjust a player’s League Index where available rating history or demonstrated playing ability indicates that the calculated index does not accurately reflect their playing level.
TPT Ranking Points+
RANKING POINTS
TPT Ranking Points reward your performance at official TPT Opens. The further you progress in an event, the more points you earn. Your ranking is individual, even when you compete as part of a pair. Both players receive the same points based on how far their pair progresses.
TPT uses a rolling 52-week ranking period, with your best four results counting towards your current ranking. This means your ranking rewards performance, rather than simply how many Opens you play.
TPT 250 Winner: 250 points Finalist: 165 points Semifinal: 100 points Quarterfinal: 50 points Pool / Early Exit: 25 points
TPT 400 Winner: 400 points Finalist: 265 points Semifinal: 160 points Quarterfinal: 80 points Pool / Early Exit: 40 points
TPT Masters Winner: 1,000 points Finalist: 650 points Semifinal: 400 points Quarterfinal: 200 points Pool / Early Exit: 100 points
Your League Index determines your playing level. Your TPT Ranking measures your performance on the TPT Tour.

Guidelines+
GUIDELINES
TPT Opens are designed to be competitive, well organised and, most importantly, enjoyable for everyone. We want every event to have a competitive edge while maintaining the welcoming, family-focused environment that TPT stands for.
Check-in & Arrival Players must arrive at least 20 minutes before their first scheduled match. Please check the tournament schedule carefully and make sure you know which Open and division you are playing in. Players are responsible for being ready when their match is called.
Match Format & Scoring Matches follow the format specified for each Open. Unless otherwise stated, matches are played using the TPT scoring format. At deuce, the next point is played as a Silver Point. The player or pair that wins the point gains the advantage. If they lose the following point, the score returns to deuce. From the next deuce, the following point becomes Golden Point. The pair that wins the Golden Point wins the game.
Balls & Equipment TPT Opens will use the designated TPT tournament balls and approved event equipment. Players should bring their own rackets and ensure they are suitable for competitive play.
Fair Play TPT is built around competitive padel, but fair play comes first. Respect your opponents, your partner, officials and the venue. Play hard, play honestly and respect the spirit of the game.
Family Environment TPT is a family environment. We want players, supporters and families to enjoy the event together. Respectful behaviour is expected at all times, both on and off court. Excessive abuse, intimidation, aggressive behaviour or conduct that negatively affects other players or families will not be tolerated.
Late Arrivals Players who are not ready when their match is scheduled may be subject to penalties or forfeiture in accordance with the tournament format. Tournament officials have the final say on how late arrivals are handled.
Withdrawals If you are unable to participate, please notify the tournament organisers as soon as possible. Withdrawals and any resulting changes to draws or schedules will be handled by TPT tournament officials.
Tournament Decisions TPT tournament officials are responsible for the administration of the event and have the final decision on matters including scheduling, late arrivals, withdrawals, disputes, player conduct and tournament format.
Respect the Venue Players are responsible for treating the courts, facilities and equipment with respect. Please keep the venue clean and follow any additional venue requirements.
Enjoy the Competition TPT Opens are about competing, improving, meeting other players and growing the game of padel. Bring your best game, respect your opponents and enjoy the experience.
TPT officials reserve the right to make reasonable decisions required to ensure the event remains fair, safe, organised and enjoyable for everyone.
Rules+
TPT Open Rules All TPT Opens follow the standard TPT rules below unless an event-specific format states otherwise.
Match Scoring Matches use standard padel scoring: 15, 30, 40 and deuce. At deuce, the next point is Silver Point. The pair that wins the point gains advantage. If they lose the following point, the score returns to deuce. The next time the game reaches deuce, the following point is Golden Point. The pair that wins the Golden Point wins the game.
Court Changes Players change ends once per match, after four games. There is no end change after every two games. Players have a maximum of one minute to rotate and be ready to continue play.
Late Arrival Players must be ready to play at their scheduled match time. For every 5 minutes a player or pair is late, one game is awarded to the opposing pair. Examples:
- 1–4 minutes late: no game penalty
- 5–9 minutes late: 1 game penalty
- 10–14 minutes late: 2 game penalty
- 15–19 minutes late: 3 game penalty
Continued lateness may result in the match being forfeited at the discretion of TPT tournament officials.
No Time Wasting Players must keep the match moving. Excessive delays between points, games or ends are not permitted. Players should be ready to serve, receive and continue play without unnecessary delay.
Warm-Up Warm-ups must be kept short and must not delay the scheduled start of the match. Once the allocated warm-up time has ended, the match must begin.
Serving & Receiving Players must follow the standard padel serving and receiving rules. The correct serving order must be maintained throughout the match.
Ball in Play Players should not deliberately delay the return of balls or leave the court unnecessarily during a game. If a ball from another court enters your court, stop play when necessary and allow the situation to be resolved safely before continuing.
Fair Play TPT is built around competitive but respectful padel. Players are expected to make honest line calls, respect opponents and partners, and play within the spirit of the game. Do not deliberately distract, intimidate or interfere with opponents.
Conduct Abusive, threatening, aggressive or disrespectful behaviour towards players, officials, staff or spectators will not be tolerated. TPT reserves the right to issue warnings, penalties or disqualification where necessary.
Disputes & Decisions Players should resolve normal on-court questions respectfully. If an issue cannot be resolved, refer it to a TPT tournament official. TPT tournament officials have the final decision on disputes, penalties, late arrivals, withdrawals, scheduling and any situation not specifically covered by these rules.
The aim is simple: play hard, play fairly, keep the games moving and respect everyone on court.
